Many times we get caught up in the ongoing chaos of life and things we know, we take for granted. For us on the web, that means ebooks. We’ve read them, downloaded them, made them, and even published them. But this ain’t for those folks, this is for the newbies.
What is an ebook?
It’s just a fancy word, or better put, a slang word, for electronic book. The same goes for email, if you’re looking for some kind of connection elsewhere. An ebook is a great thing, a book you can read onscreen. If you’ve got a laptop, then great for you!
For those of us that still love desktops, then we read onscreen while eating and cutting our fingernails and watching the news and writing down our grocery list.
So don’t fantasize about the ebook phenom, it’s a phase. Like Jordache jeans or American Idol or beta video. So now that you know what an ebook is, the next question is simply – what is it good for?
What is an ebook good for?
The endless ways to use an ebook can be frustrating when you’re new because you want leverage, you want the facts. What is it good for? How can an ebook have more advantages than a regular book?
Since you’re new, you don’t know the value of an ebook. The ebook is a phenom because it balances the ground for common folks. Now, through an ebook, you can share, publish, and connect your mind with anyone around the world.
* No need to wait for those major publishing houses to call you.
* No need to worry about printing and publishing costs.
You write your ebook, edit it best as you can, and publish it. Trust me, that’s a scenario because it won’t be so easy when you start.
You’ll start off thinking long and hard. Setting dates and imagining what the cover will look like. How will I get people to buy this book? And after you brush you teeth and get ready for bed, you lay down and look at the ceiling.
What am I going to write about anyway. . .why write an ebook?
The question that drives us mad in the middle of the night. Too tired to go pee, but too awake to go back to sleep. What do I do? This is the same dilemma with your current problem.
What should I write about?
The answer’s not going to help you, you can write about ANY and EVERYTHING.
There’s millions of people online searching for content and every day, thousands more join in the search for the number one product online.
Information
People crave information, so give it to them. Come on, don’t give me that same lame excuse; I don’t know anything. There’s something buried in your mind, dozens of ideas waiting to be released on paper.
What are you waiting on -- what should I write about in my ebook? Hmmm, let’s see. I don’t know you, you don’t know me. Why trust me?
Well, am I all that? Certainly not, just someone that spent more time than you. And that’s how you should think about ebooks.
There are folks who’ve spent years doing them, of course they’ve got better at it. But the key thing is here that you offer something they don’t have. Yes, your brain.
In that beautiful mass of living tissue lies the secrets and knowledge of your life. And don’t go looking for those big things, it’s little things that will push you out into the web world.
* Know a better way to manage money for clubbing on the weekend?
* Found a better way to save money by using paper bags for lunch during the workweek?
* Found a way to club during the week and use the weekend for your loved ones?
* Know how to set-up a consulting business and hold minutes online for free?
All these things are small, but help people. That’s the only criteria you should be thinking about.
What do I know that can help people? People, not just your neighbors. Despite what you think, we’re more alike than different. So stop playing around so much and get your topic idea. Now that you’ve got out of the way, I know. I know. The same problem I had. How do I organize all this stuff? Organizing your ebook
You’ve decided to write an ebook. Yes, write, not copy or steal. Write your own ebook. You know what you’ll write about. Got your topic, found the points you want to make. But now comes the first roadblock. How do I organize all this stuff? There’s no one right way.
The best thing for you to do is sit down, imagine if you were a newbie to this subject, then write about the steps it would take for you to gain this knowledge.
Taken from that point of view, you can then write the ebook for the reader and not to show off YOU. The reader is there for the information, not to read about you. Trust me, keep yourself out of the ebook and it’ll be more interesting. The reader’s there for one thing.
INFORMATION
Please don’t let her down. She may only try you out once. You only got one chance to touch somebody’s life. Why not be simple and just help them? By helping them, you help yourself.
And by helping yourself, you realize your outline’s done. Now you sit down and breathe a sigh of relief. How do I write this ebook from scratch?
How to write your ebook
If you can talk, you can write an ebook. I didn’t say a good ebook, but you can finish one. The difference is that ebooks sell more from appropriateness and how important is the information in your ebook. This is what readers will look for and ask, what is it worth?
The first thing you should know is that information is different than writing a book, an essay, or other “scholarly” ways of writing. People want info, that’s it.
No introductions, no explaining about the symbols or how what you said goes the same for a drywall presentation. Skip all that stuff!
You got an outline, well my friend, just sit down and write the ebook. Remember it doesn’t have to be poetic or mind-boggling, it must deliver the information. If it does that, then you’re ok.
But to be safe, let a few of your friends read it before you publish it.
Ways to publish your ebook
By the time you read this, there’s going to be many formats and ways to publish. But for right now, to keep it simple, you should focus on one of two ways, pdf or exe. For more information about this information, read my other article (PDF OR EXE?) because it goes in-depth about this decision and will save you hours of heartache and hundreds of dollars on software and low-budget ebooks.
